For pupils: what we remember

Your teacher gives us a name to use for you and creates your classroom login. We save your pet, its progress and the activities you complete so you can carry on next time. You do not need your own email address.

Your teacher can help you sign in and can print your login card. Keep your PIN private and sign out when you finish, especially on a shared device.

For pupils: what happens to your answer

When you answer a feelings or energy question, we add it to your class's totals. Your teacher sees the results after the check-in closes and at least five pupils have answered. The screen does not put your name next to an answer or show a list of who answered.

A result can say that just one person chose an answer. Someone who knows your class might still guess who it was. We cannot promise that nobody will guess your answer.

You can choose "Prefer not to say" or close the check-in. Choosing "Prefer not to say" still earns the check-in reward; the feeling or energy answer you choose does not change that reward.

Need help? Tell your teacher or another trusted adult directly. A check-in is not a message asking for help, and a class result cannot tell your teacher which child needs support.

For adults: the privacy boundary

Check-ins use temporary participation markers and class counters. The application does not keep a permanent answer history named after each pupil. When a session is successfully closed, it deletes its participation markers and working counters, and keeps any published class summary.

Results are released only after closure, including when a teacher closes a session early, and only if the minimum of five responses is met. Published results are fixed. Each chosen feeling and energy category has its exact count, including a count of one. Five responses is a release rule, not a guarantee of anonymity.

The service processes the signed-in pupil and answer together during submission. Hosting services also process connection and timing information. Pet activity and rewards remain associated with pupil accounts. These controls limit what teachers can see; they do not make the service anonymous to its operator.

School staff should consider small groups, classroom knowledge and comparisons between sessions before using check-ins. Do not use the results to identify, diagnose, rank or make significant decisions about individual children.

Your choices and questions

Text-size and OpenDyslexic choices stay in the pupil's browser tab and are cleared on sign-out or a fresh pupil login. They are not added to the pupil's online profile.

Pupils and parents can ask their school what it has shared and request help with a correction or deletion. You can also contact [email protected]. Please do not send a password, PIN or a child's check-in answers.
