Why did we build classroom.pet?

classroom.pet was built around a simple challenge: how can we give children one more reason to want to come to school each day?

Something to look forward to

When our local authority asked schools to work towards improving attendance, we wanted to create something that felt positive rather than punitive. Classroom pets give pupils something familiar to check in on, care for and look forward to each day - a small extra nudge for a child who might otherwise be unsure about coming in. But we also wanted it to be useful for teachers.

A clearer picture of your class

Alongside caring for their pet, pupils can share how they’re feeling at different points in the school day. Class totals help teachers notice patterns and open up supportive classroom conversations. Privacy is paramount, so individual names are never shown with answers.

Make space for the patterns that matter.

Turn everyday check-ins into an easy-to-read view of how your class is feeling. Spot patterns over time and use them to help shape your classroom routines.

  2. Make it yours

A few things you might be wondering. Still have a question? Get in touch.

How do pupils sign in?

Generate pupil accounts in your teacher area and share the Class Link or QR code. Keep any name-to-username list at school. Pupils use their generated username and six-digit PIN. They do not need an email address or their own subscription.

Can teachers see an individual pupil’s answers?

The dashboard does not attach pupil names to answers. It shows class totals after a check-in closes and at least five pupils have responded. An answer category can still contain just one pupil, so classroom knowledge may allow someone to guess an answer. These summaries support class conversations and cannot identify a child who needs help.

Can I fit check-ins around our timetable?

Yes. You can set morning and afternoon check-in windows, choose the feelings available to your class, and enable or disable feelings and energy questions. You also control when pupils can sign in.

Is this for one teacher or a whole school?

Both. Teacher accounts are designed for one classroom. School accounts add central class management and teacher invitations. Pupil access is included. Visit pricing to compare the plans and see the current Alpha access details.
